Days 127 and 128 - no wifi

Folks, I have no wifi in my room for the next two days. I'll therefore update when I can on Sunday evening (for me) hopefully.

Day 0 - Thursday 4 January 2024

Well, the big day has come to take that first small step on my giant journey. I was all packed yesterday, but wasn't happy with what I'd done, so that was redone this morning after omitting some items that were taking up inordinate amounts of space; a full sized tripod was a bit unnecessary as I doubt I'd have used it, and a few other space-hungry items found themselves back in storage ..... the bag closed a whole lot more easily once I'd revisited it this morning. Mum arrived at 11.00, and after double checking everything that went into my hand luggage (yes, I have remembered to pack my passport) gave me a lift to the railway station for my 13.00 train; the journey was simple .... first leg to London Liverpool Street, and then a transfer to the Elizabeth line for the onwards transfer to London Heathrow. Unfortunately, there was an 'incident' at Chelmsford where someone had come into contact with a train, so the line was closed while that incident was resolved. ...

Day 131 - Tuesday 14th May 2024

On some days the mood is set by what happens early, and today was one of those days.  Yesterday I mentioned that I had to pay a park entry fee to the conservation park that the resort sits in. Well, as part of that fee you get to participate in a dolphin experience so I was up early and down by the beach at 7:15 for the 7:45 experience. At 7:45 we had a briefing from the warden about what we could do, and then made out way down to the shoreline and were allowed into the sea ankle deep in the water. We were then treated to a dolphin and her 12 week old calf swimming along in front of us. I'm not altogether sure whether it was a case of the people coming to look at the dolphins, or the dolphins coming to look at the people! These are wild untrained animals who come along of their own free will; the wardens are allowed to provide them with a small amount of fish. Day 120 – Friday 3rd May 2024

Has 04:30 become the new 06:00? Once again I was wide awake very early, but this was a positive today as I was able to add photos to yesterdays blog as the internet was a lot quicker than last night. It’s a little frustrating to come to several locations on the bounce where wifi hasn’t been ideal. Today is the day of the most expensive excursion of the trip; a flying visit to Purnululu National Park and the Bungle Bungles. Picked up from the front gate of the resort at 08:15 and delivered to the airport in time for our 09:00 departure. Loaded onto the plane that held just 12 passengers, and we were off. We departed over the camp site where I’m staying, and proceeded on southwards and over Lake Argyle where I was yesterday. I could clearly see where we went on the boat trip yesterday, and it was interesting to give that trip some perspective.
